Used 230 TPD Sulfuric Acid Plant was designed by MECS (Monsanto Enviro-Chem Systems, Inc.) and is engineered to produce industrial-grade 98% sulfuric acid from multiple sulfur-bearing process streams. The plant processes acid gas from an amine-based Acid Gas Removal Unit (AGR) utilizing MDEA, ammonia acid gas from a sour water ammonia stripper system, and sulfur dioxide-rich gas from a Hot Gas Cleanup Unit (HGCU). The sulfuric acid production process consists of four primary sections: sulfur dioxide (SO2) generation through the combustion of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) gas in a decomposition furnace, cooling and purification of the SO2 process gas, catalytic conversion of sulfur dioxide to sulfur trioxide (SO3) using the double-absorption process, and absorption of SO3 into sulfuric acid to produce sulfuric acid (93%, 96%, 98%). This MECS double-absorption sulfuric acid plant is ideal for refineries, petrochemical facilities, gasification projects, chemical processing plants, and industrial operations seeking an efficient sulfur recovery and sulfuric acid production solution with a design capacity of 230 tons per day.
